A Guide to Trail Mud Tyres | Limits to Grip

Hutchinson make some excellent tyres, and having spent considerable time on the downhill Rhino I looked forward to the big casing Torro. Somehow it was slightly heavier than similar 2.35 tyres and so the tradition goes here with the Torro. Heading on for a kilo the Torro has its place as a hardcase for mixed conditions and very much at the opposite end of the trail/enduro spectrum than many tyres on test here. As with Continental we were not able to get a durometer figure and unsurprisingly found the tyre to be similar hardness. In cold conditions the Torro lacks the give that say the Storm offers. Having ridden the 2.35 which gives a reasonable transitional grip its maybe in the 2.15 that the Hutchinson range will succeed most offering the bite a thin tyre gives with the benefit of a bulletproof casing.
