If you are sold on the pedigree and build quality of the products from DT Swiss, but your requirements are for a more substantial pair of wheels than our favourite XM 1501 hoops, then these EX 471 rims laced to DT’s well regarded 240 hubs are our recommendation. In fact the DT Swiss 240 Hub/EX 471 Rim was used by 2015 World Cup champion Aaron Gwin on his works Specialized Demo.
Weighing in at only 500g in a 27.5” size, this EX471 rim builds into a super reliable sub 2Kg wheelset. DT Swiss suggest this rim covers riding styles from trail riding to harder hitting enduro use, but we’ve found that with the tough, resilient and stiff aluminium structure it can be reliably pushed into DH territory.
