If anyone knows how to design and produce a quality direct mount stem then it must surely be motocross brand Renthal. The Renthal Integra stem has been a favourite and our Dirt 100 pick for a few years now, and rightly so.
The original Integra direct mount was an innovative design with a two-pieced design and using only six bolts rather than the more common eight. A wide 64mm handlebar clamping area resulted in a massively stiff and strong stem that put far less stress through the bars than other designs. Renthal had done away with often seen issues that arose on other brands; loosening bolts, cracked mounts and creaks were not problems here.
“Super light, easy to install and bomber strong, the revised Integra 2 stem is another hit from UK brand Renthal”
Now, Renthal have refined their original design and now offer the Integra 2 stem keeping the simple six bolt fixing. Staying with the proven 6082 T6 aluminium for the lower body of the stem, Renthal have kept the installation simpler now, with two C-clamps in 7075 ali, keeping with the super-wide 64mm bar clamp. Handlebar support is best in class and the two separate clamps (which you cinch down flush at the top first, as per Easton) keep stress risers to a minimum. Now with two lengths (rather than the sliding mounts of the original) and two rises, most riders’ tastes are covered.
