In the very first Dirt 100 way back in 2009 we featured a dropper post. Six years ago there was a very limited choice on the market, with really only two key players, and none of the chosen trail bikes in our ‘pick of the year’ had one as standard kit. Fast forward to the present day and many a rider would be lost without a dropper post, claiming it has changed the way we ride; and so it has. Certainly with the RockShox Reverb Stealth.

What once was a heavy and complicated piece of kit with a clunky action and dubious reliability has developed into a ‘must have’ upgrade to our trail and enduro machines. KS and Specialized joined in, and along with Crank Brothers and Gravity Dropper, competition in the market led to kit that was starting to deal with tough UK conditions and convinced riders that they were worth the expense.
Then, in 2010, the Reverb from RockShox arrived. We were surprised that it took so long for a big name to get involved. Here was an adjustable post that took all of the Rockshox engineering pedigree, with hydraulic adjustment and reliable sealing, and gave the rider 125mm of super smooth, infinitely adjustable movement.
