New Product Highlights From Core Bike Trade Show 2014 – Part 1

The guys at Mojo (the UK distributor and service centre for Fox) had this pretty wild custom built Nicolai on their stand. Anyone who knows Chris Porter (the man who set up Mojo) will know that he has some interesting views on all things bikes, including geometry. We’ve featured a few of his bikes before, all of which have been tweaked to be as slack, low and long as possible, but in the interest of experimentation he wanted to go even further and the only way to do that was to go down the full custom route, and Nicolai are one of the few companies to offer this kind of service. It’s based on an Ion 16 with 27.5″ wheels, but as you can probably tell from this photo the geometry is far from conventional. It’s perhaps one of the only frames in the world where an Angleset might actually be used to steepen things up.

Another interesting thing on the Mojo stand was this display of forks and shocks, all of which either had cutaway sections, or entire parts made from clear plastic, so that you could see how they actually work. Pretty neat, especially as the plastic ones actually worked.
