There cannot be a more reliable performer on test bikes that we get here than the RockShox Monarch Plus. Its dependability is immense; hardly any of these units have had to be sent back. In fact the only issue we have with the Monarch is more about the varying tunes than the performance.

When matched correctly with the suspension design the Monarch Plus is hard to fault but so often over the past year we have had bikes with incorrect tunes that lead to nervy ride characteristics. Some however, such as the Giant Reign have been hard to fault.
Care also needs to be taken with personal set up no more so than with the air volume spacers that have a big influence in controlling the ride height. Not enough and there’s a lack of hold, too many and the ride becomes rough. It’s a delicate balance and we frequently see many riders struggling to understand the balance required. Bike shops and direct sales please note.
