TweedLove is the UK’s biggest bike festival, with visitors coming from all over the planet for a warm welcome in the Scottish Borders. One hundred per cent organised by bike riders, the festival is made up of two weeks of bike events in an area that has perhaps the UK’s best concentration of mountain and road biking options.
The most hotly-anticipated event of the 2014 festival will undoubtedly be a race in the Enduro World Series, which will be visiting the UK for the first time. With two days of trail racing on stages around the Tweed Valley, this event aims to be tough but fun – riding will vary from fast and flowy to tight, steep and technical, with an emphasis on great riding and quality trails.
There is no uplift in the area, and riders will need to deal with a significant amount of distance and vertical on a tour of the UK’s premier enduro trail destination. The course will visit both Glentress and Innerleithen, and take in some of the finest hidden and natural trails in the area. Around 600 riders are expected to take part, including stars such as Fabien Barel, Remy Absalon, Jerome Clementz and Tracy Moseley.
Apart from the EWS stage, there is also the Glentress Seven, a seven hour race for teams or individuals on a 11 km course, and the Tweedlove Dual Slalom on a course designed by local legend Ruaridh Cunningham. Other events at the festival include a family day, product showcase, skills courses and bike-specific pilates sessions.
