Easton Cycling has been producing bike components since the 1984, and although they’re experts in aluminium they got in early with carbon too. If you’ve been riding a while you’ll be very familiar with the Easton’s Monkeylite carbon bar or their great stems and the reputation they hold for strength and reliability as well as ride quality. Times have moved on and now carbon parts are everywhere, and at all price points. Easton however, with their in-house testing and insistence on premium products, has not compromised their quality to compete with these cheap imports. Take the Easton Haven Carbon 29″ as an example.
“These carbon Havens are really very stiff and we’ve settled on these as the ideal choice for the 29inch wheel”
The Easton Haven wheels have been a well-regarded upgrade here at Dirt for some years now. When looking to shed weight within sensible limits and add stiffness for better tracking and hard cornering, these carbon-rimmed hoops were one of the first widely available options. Well before the arrival of the larger 27.5 and 29 inch wheel sizes we were equipping mid travel trail machines with these to get bike weights down to the 12Kg mark, without (and here’s the key point) the flex a lightweight XC pair would give.
Easton use their ‘Armored Ballistic Composite’ for the rims resulting in an incredibly durable rim that resists impacts from rocks and trail damage well. This rim is designed for both UST and tubeless ready set-ups and we can vouch for its reliability and sealing. The 24 straight pull Sapim spokes are hand built in a three-cross pattern front and rear, for a stiff, no compromise build
