Last year’s ‘Trail bike of the year’ still holds its place close to that mark and has only really taken a year out because of Trek’s impressive and slightly better performing rear damper. But inject a bit more compression to the standard Monarch damper and the Stumpy plays in the same place. The Stumpjumper Evo still has it all when it comes to trail riding and is one of the most engaging bicycles we’ve ever ridden. A low standover, low bottom bracket and excellent length allows it to tear corners to shreds and partly because the slightly longer chainstay allows plenty of weight placed onto the front tyre. Still one of the best year-round trail bikes by a country mile.
