Easton Havoc 35mm Stem

Getting the balance right up front

The Easton Havoc 35mm Stem has to be one of the best looking as well as a serious contender for the strongest too. Since 1984 Easton Cycling has been creating some beautiful and well designed components and their Havoc range has always been a favourite here at Dirt, being fitted to our trail bikes as well as downhill machines. Easton was in early with sub 50mm length stems and we used these (and still do) to get the best balance and handling on trail and enduro bikes with longer front ends coming to the fore.

CNC’d from a solid block of EA90 Easton aluminium, this chunky little stem is available in a zero rise and 35, 50 and 65mm lengths, right up our street. The smooth rounded finish and classy finish rival Thomson in the looks department.

It is the strength that makes this stem stands out though, making the Havoc an ideal choice on for DH or aggressive trail/enduro use. The ‘Top lock technology’ means that you tighten the top of the faceplate flush with the stem, and then torque the two lower bolts correctly afterwards. This helps stiffen the system, reduces fatigue on the bolts and gives a more carbon friendly, smoother surface. The Havoc stem gives that reassuringly solid feel and remains creak free regardless of how wide the bars and what terrain you are hitting. The way the front of the stem is designed also allows a lower bar height than many is nice touch.
