Just to avoid any confusion, Fresh Produce is the section of the mag where we show you cool, new stuff. Stuff that we haven’t yet tested, but in our opinion something we definitely think you should have a look at. Fully tested products can be found in the Hammered section.

SANTA CRUZ HECKLER
The classic is reborn. I’ve always loved Hecklers, their performance belies their simplicity, they just make you think ‘why do I need anything more complicated?’ This latest version is cleaner looking than ever, and with the travel increased slightly to 150mm it should just as versatile. As with all Santa Cruz’s there’s an almost ridiculous range of finish and spec options, but we’re not fussy, we just want one. 6.4lb frame and shock weight…this thing’s going to be a rocket ship.

We featured Pace’s high performance brake fluid a while back but they’ve just added a couple more products to their Fluidworx’s range. There are two different chain lubes, one low–mess one for dry weather and one designed to withstand even the worst Yorkshire bog, and then there’s a crazy non–slip grease. This stuff is designed primarily for carbon seatposts, but you could equally use it on an aluminium one. The little polymer globules reduce the necessary clamping force by 30%, so both crushed and slipping seatposts will be a thing of the past.

DMR have been making singlespeed hubs for years now but this latest model features a cassette style freehub body, making it far more reliable than one which relies on a basic screw–on freewheel. It’s available with both 10 and 14 mm axles, and for those of you who want to run a micro set–up there’s also the option of an interchangeable one–piece driver. It’s not particularly light but I reckon it’ll last donkey’s years, and the price seems more than reasonable.

Everyone loves lock-on style grips, and most people also seem to love a ‘Ruffian’ style pattern, so Charge should be onto a winner with these. The clamp mechanism uses grub screws to hold everything tight, but unlike some other similar designs there’s a neat little metal collar to protect the bars from any damage. Let’s just hope the price is as good.
