The French company have always had the measure on bicycle chassis stability, which is why Olivier Bossard has won so many world titles over the years particularly with Sunn and some hugely talented French downhill racers of the late nineties. So how well does the current breed of dampers work and in particular the Bos DeVille?
“Bos come with a pretty accurate set-up guide for their forks although it’s not by chance that they have arrived on such figures”
“Having the measure” might seem like a very simple statement yet it’s loaded with so many variables and yes the fork is but one facet in the whole bike as a system but here is an engineer who understands the system seriously well. The Bos DeVille and also the Idylle RaRe only ever do as much as what’s needed on the trail. These units never use three inches of travel when two will suffice, and from this the rider always steers a ship that’s not making a meal out of matters – Bos suspension usually means a stable chassis, a balanced ride.
