Day two of the Enduro World Series and Enduro of Nations took all the mountain could throw at it, draining for the racers and sometimes difficult for the organisers the penultimate round of the Enduro World Series ended with a French revolution.

To begin the day riders again climbed the Bellverde from the gondola station up to 2800m before setting off down the first stage of the day. Racers pushed hard all day and the effort to get up the last grassy climb in the town was on the limit for many.

The General Classification time for the race was over an hour but both the men’s and women’s races were only divided by seconds. Jerome Clementz was victorious and took the win over Jared Graves by just 11 seconds with a time of  1h 07m 03.711s. Graves had a crash on stage 3 that put him back by over 40 seconds meaning he made up around 30 seconds over the second days racing. Fabien Barel took third step on the podium after a hard weekend of racing.

Graves goes from a 38 to a 36 tooth front ring for the last stage of the day.

The women’s race was just as tightly fought, Tracy Moseley was just 8 seconds behind Anne Caroline going into the last stage. She made this time and then some but was handed a 30 second penalty based on jersey number placement which pushed her back to 2nd. Tracy still maintains the overall lead and is well ahead of the rest of the women’s field in the overall. Cecile Ravanel finished off the podium and it wouldn’t be the French rider’s last podium appearance for the weekend.

Junior powerhouse Martin Maes took the Junior win in style. His overall race time for the weekend would have placed him in third proving he has a bright future in Enduro racing.

The Enduro of Nations also took place this weekend and after a decision was made on Sunday afternoon to not run the mass start final stage for the Nations riders the champions were decided based on their cumulative times from the weekend’s other stages. The national flag was flown high as both men’s and women’s titles were taken by French teams. The winning mens team consisted of Jerome Clementz, Fabian Barel and Remy Absalon who took the win by 17 minutes over the Italian team in 2nd place. In the women’s event team GB battled all day for their race but were beaten by a 15 minute margin created by the joint efforts of Anne Caroline Chausson, Cecile Ravanel and Pauline Deiffenthaler. A great effort from Tracy Moseley, Emily Horridge and Katy Winton to get the second step on the podium. Unfortunately due to injury the UK men missed the classification.

The Enduro World Series now moves on to it’s final round in Finale Ligure, Italy, on the 19th and 20th of October. Jerome Clementz and Tracy Moseley both look unbeatable and are clearly on the verge of becoming the first Enduro World Champions, but this is Enduro and anything can happen.
