In the world of grips there are hundreds of choices. Every once in a while though, we hit on a winner, and by this we mean a winning combination of qualities. Rubber compound, shape, length, diameter, pattern and heck, even colour all add up to make a grip that can please some but not all. But this one does, the Race Face Half Nelson grip.
At Dirt we are a picky bunch and something as personal and as tactile as the humble grip will still stir personal opinions, after all, they can make a good bar set-up great.
“With a slim diameter and spot on surface pattern, these Half Nelson grips are comfortable with or without gloves, whether dry or sodden”
When the RaceFace Half Nelsons appeared last year it was apparent immediately that all the boxes had been ticked. Here was a grip with the correct rubber compound for year round UK riding, tacky but not so soft as to be worn out within a few months. Comfortable with or without gloves whether dry or sodden. With a spot-on pattern (plus an MX style raised surface on the underside for added wet weather traction), and a slim diameter, the feel of these Raceface grips is great…we all agreed. What else was a hit? Well, the move to a single inboard locking increases comfort and sheds a tiny bit of weight with no compromise to the clamping effect.
