As much as it pains me to write about the 34 and its troubled past, it’s a dear old friend of mine and well suited to the type of riding many people still do. Apparently shredding around on singletrack still has an appeal to many riders.
A few years ago Fox for some crazy reason decided that it was the smaller chassis 34 fork that should take precedence on our 150/160mm travel bikes. The skinnier chassis and filled with the early CTD damping has to be some of the poorest performing pieces of crap the company has ever made. The world’s press listened and many cluelessly repeated year in year out the talk that had been dished out from some of the Fox staff at press camps – what Fox themselves described as faster, lighter – every season it was the same……you know what? I got bored of listening.
