THOMAS GENON dominated the FISE World slopetyle on Friday and backed up his TOP SCORE IN QUALIFYING by taking the win in the main event.

The event was disrupted by wind and had to be delayed by over six hours until an appropriate slot could be found. Genon as best able to shrug off the difficult conditions though and threw down a run of 95.33 that included a 360 downside whip, an opposite 360 x-up and finished with a cork 720 finale.

Genon will be happy to get a win under his belt early in the season and the result is a big improvement on the fifth place he scored at the event last year. He now sits second in the FMB World Tour rankings just 180 points behind Nicholi Rogatkin in first.

Second place went to BMX legend Ryan Nyquist who is clearly starting to feel more comfortable on bigger wheels. His run featured a backflip one had x-up, 720 bar spin and a huge 360 suicide no hander. It was scored 94.00 by the judges – not bad considering he’s 10 years older than the rest of the competition (and 15 years older than Genon).

Third place went to the other veteran (at the grand old age of 29) Yannick Granieri who scored 93.00 with this run:

Final mention should go to Brit Daryl Brown who scored his best ever result in sixth.
