Rachel Atherton wins women’s World Cup at Fort William

Another huge win for Rach

Rachel Atherton won a record-equaling ninth consecutive World Cup at Fort William. Atherton crashed yesterday in qualifying but held it together to smoke the rest of the field by over ten seconds. Nine wins on the trot has only ever been equaled by the great Anne Caroline Chausson who did it twice, first in the 98-99 seasons, and then in 2000-01. ACC has won 41 World Cups, Rach 29 after today.

Tracey Hannah was second with Manon Carpenter third following a small crash. Tahnee Seagrave elected not to race due to an injury that hampered her whole weekend but Katy Curd ensured there was another Brit on the podium with a fourth place. The top five was rounded out by Morgane Charre.
