Schwalbe British and Euro 4X Finals
On the 15th and 16th of September, Europe’s fastest 4X riders will meet up for one final time in 2012 at Afan, South Wales. Britain’s toughest 4X track will provide the perfect venue for the the final race in the Schwalbe British 4X Series on Saturday 15th and the final round of the Schwalbe Euro 4X Series on Sunday 16th.
So what makes Afan so tough. Well it’s long, rough and technical. With a corkscrew bridge, huge rock section and a pro line that really does separate the pro riders from the others, this track has it all and always provides action by the sack full.
So who’s going to be there. Well Tomas Slavik, Michal Prokop, Joost Wichman, Felix Beckeman, Mechura Brothers and Daniel Prijkel are all on the invited list from Europe. Scott Beaumont, Lewis Lacey, Tom Dowie, Nathan Parssons and Dan Bateson will all be leading the home charge trying to take the win in front of the home crowds. Tomas Slavik, Scott Beaumont and Daniel Prijkel can all win the Schwalbe Euro 4X overall title, so be prepared to see a battle royale between these guys on Sunday.
In the women’s, Katy Curd will be in a fierce battle against Lucia Oejtens, Anna Borschig and Jessica Schmulbach to take the women’s euro overall title. On Saturday at the final British round, the women’s racing will be watched by all as the title is still in the balance with just a couple of points separating Cara Murray and Suzanne Lacey. On this track it is impossible to call who will take the win.
Riders from 12 years old all the way up to 65 will be racing in categories ranging from juveniles up to veterans. If you haven’t raced before or do not have a licence then fear not, British 4X racing caters for you with the fun category – 12-16 years old, and the big fun class which is 17 +. So there really is no excuse. If you have always wanted to try 4X then now is the time. The best bit, you will also witness some of the worlds finest riders racing as well.
