Now in its second year, the Down Hill Taxco (south west of Mexico City) urban downhill race is becoming one of the best off-season (off the wall) events on the calendar. Raced down through the streets of the city it attracts a mixed and varied bunch of competitors. Local racers mingled with the likes of DH stars Neko Mulally, Mitch Ropelato, Filip Polc and Bernard Kerr, ‘freerider’ (is that word still used!?) Cam Zink, king whippper Bernardo Cruz, 4X racer Tomas Slavik, and others.
The course was changed and shortened from last year, which meant that the atmosphere was even more heightened and the environment even more intense. And there is no doubt that it is an event that makes for some amazing photographs (just check out these great photos that Nicolas Switalski took for us). It was to be Brazilian racer Bernardo Cruz that took the win (he also won this event last year) in front of a reported 20,000 fans!
