‘Dream Scene’… Velosolutions Pumptrack in Bali

An advert for the perfect lifestyle... dream on!

To say that we are (massively) jealous of Claudio Caluori and the life that he leads would be a huge understatement… ex-World Cup DH racer, commentator, team manager, Crashed Ice regular and of course Mr Velosolutions (track/trail/pumptrack builders). Claudio has it all going on.

So here is yet another of his amazing creations – this time a pump track in Bali that somehow incorporates and skate bowl! Claudio himself takes up the story, and full video below too…

After the projects in Thailand and New York City, Velosolutions hopped on the plane for a new adventure in Asia, this time on the Indonesian island of Bali. Again, the crew had to deal with new challenges, and it was not always as easy as we wished.

Arriving in Bali, right at the construction start, our client had the idea of a complete redesign of the layout of the track that we’ve been planning for the last 18 months. Why not?!

Just as we wanted to get going, Bali showed us why February is called the rainy season. Roads and fields were completely flooded. Our first work day became a day off. Back to the hotel.

Second day, our client tells us that in week two of three, we won’t be able to work because of Chinese New Year and Balinese holidays. Well, it only took two minutes of being confused until we realised that meant a week of surfing! And we like challenges at Velosolutions anyways… why not doing some night shifts then!

It kept on going that same way, having to deal with the wrong machines, the wrong asphalt, late asphalt deliveries, cold asphalt deliveries – the guy driving the asphalt truck was walking barefoot on his fresh load of asphalt… and that’s not because he was very tough!

It came to the point where we really didn’t know if we were going to able to finish the project properly to Velosolutions’ high quality, so we just had to believe in it and keep on pushing to the max. This meant working on the edge of collapsing, constant diziness and feeling sick. Our workers dealt with rashes, Bali belly (Diarrhoea), coughs, fevers… but we made it!

One day before leaving, Adrien Loron was able to ride the first laps on the track, and he was loving it!

Next one is coming up from the UK, shortly! (hmmm… I wonder where that could be!!!).
