Ibis Mojo HD3 – £6,850

Ibis have always made gorgeous bikes but there’s more than fashion here – the Mojo HD3 actually finished second in the EWS team rankings this year. It’s not cheap but then there’s not many bikes as curvaceously sexy as this.

Santa Cruz Nomad – £5,599

If you want a bike that attracts stares thanks to its gorgeous colour schemes and impeccable finish then this is the one. The comments are mostly “have you seen?” and “looks nice don’t it” rather than “have you ridden?”

It’s an extravaganza of colour, so much so that we were tempted to coat the bike in matte black so that the garish/gorgeous paintwork didn’t influence the outcome of our tests!

Robot Bike Co. – £4,395 (frame only)

It’s tough to place the next two bikes because they are only sold as frames (although custom builds are available). There’s no doubt they comfortably sit in this list though. First up is the Robot Bike Co. frame that uses titanium and carbon to create a lightweight and truly unique bike.

This is a true piece of engineering that will no doubt be a dream ride for many of us. Go to Marks and Sparks and you can find an off–the–peg suit for £50, or go to Saville Row and have one made to measure for a couple of grand. It is all about choices (and it does come with a lifetime guarantee).

ARBR Saker – £4,390 (frame only)

Want to save yourself a fiver? Go for the ARBR Saker instead! Designed by some serous brains, the new Saker (meaning a species of Falcon) is a bike fashioned by a collaboration of bike enthusiasts with a sizeable amount of knowledge behind the numbers.

Have no doubt, these guys will be agonising over the build quality having already spent considerable time getting the finest detail correct, and remember these bikes have now been real world tested for a few years. Many will buy into the low volume, exclusive golden ticket
