The 10 most expensive enduro mountain bikes

Money no object, dream rides

No mountain bikes are cheap, but some are less cheap than others. Here is a list of dream enduro bikes that come with an unfortunately high cost.

It’s worth saying that cheaper builds are available of all these bikes, but we’re only here for the most exclusive kit. Click here for the most expensive downhill bikes.

Intense –Recluse Factory – £8,700

Intense have been busy launching a raft of new bikes this year. For those of an enduro persuasion, the Recluse will be the most interesting.

For the best part of ten grand you want a sweet piece of kit so you’ll be glad to know Jeff Steber’s attention to detail is present. It’s reassuring considering this bike will be able to take hard riding over a good few seasons.

Mondraker Dune Carbon – £7,399

The Mondraker Dune now stands as the longest 160mm travel bike on the market with the longest reach and wheelbase numbers – in terms of cost per volume, it’s probably one of the cheapest!

But don’t for one second think that it’s going to be too big for you or not ‘nippy’ for that is a total myth. The Alloy version was a dead cert for our 2015 Dirt 100 and the carbon update has only made it better.

Ibis Mojo HD3 – £6,850

Ibis have always made gorgeous bikes but there’s more than fashion here – the Mojo HD3 actually finished second in the EWS team rankings this year. It’s not cheap but then there’s not many bikes as curvaceously sexy as this.

Specialized S-works Enduro – £6,600

The new Enduro takes everything great about 2016’s model and irons out the kinks. Nobody else does a 29 inch bike this burly and we seriously, seriously like it. You’re money is safe too as Spesh is offering a lifetime warranty.

But how does it ride? Like a monster truck. “Get Sick Soon” or rather…..get well soon Sam.

Nicolai Ion GPI techline pro – €7,399 (£6,200)

With even more radical geometry than the Mondraker, the Ion went one step further and fitted a gearbox too. We’ve loved every Nicolai we’ve ridden and, with the weight centralised thanks to the transmission, this one is sure to be yet another trail destroyer.

Yeti SB6C – £6,100

When you’ve made the most successful enduro bike ever you really can justify any cost. £6,100 actually seems fairly modest for Yeti given how iconic this bike already is.

Trek Slash 29 – £6,000

‘Almighty’ is how we described the Trek Slash 29 on launch and it truly is. There’s not much to say really because A) Its a proven winner and B) It’s a largely unridden new bike. This is simply one hot piece of kit that comes with huge expectancy and a growing band of converts to the 29″ wheels.

All of this points to a bike that justifies its hefty price tag though.

Santa Cruz Nomad – £5,599

If you want a bike that attracts stares thanks to its gorgeous colour schemes and impeccable finish then this is the one. The comments are mostly “have you seen?” and “looks nice don’t it” rather than “have you ridden?”

It’s an extravaganza of colour, so much so that we were tempted to coat the bike in matte black so that the garish/gorgeous paintwork didn’t influence the outcome of our tests!

Robot Bike Co. – £4,395 (frame only)

It’s tough to place the next two bikes because they are only sold as frames (although custom builds are available). There’s no doubt they comfortably sit in this list though. First up is the Robot Bike Co. frame that uses titanium and carbon to create a lightweight and truly unique bike.

This is a true piece of engineering that will no doubt be a dream ride for many of us. Go to Marks and Sparks and you can find an off–the–peg suit for £50, or go to Saville Row and have one made to measure for a couple of grand. It is all about choices (and it does come with a lifetime guarantee).

ARBR Saker – £4,390 (frame only)

Want to save yourself a fiver? Go for the ARBR Saker instead! Designed by some serous brains, the new Saker (meaning a species of Falcon) is a bike fashioned by a collaboration of bike enthusiasts with a sizeable amount of knowledge behind the numbers.

Have no doubt, these guys will be agonising over the build quality having already spent considerable time getting the finest detail correct, and remember these bikes have now been real world tested for a few years. Many will buy into the low volume, exclusive golden ticket
