Seven enduro mountain bikes for under £2,000

Bargain enduro bruisers

With enduro specific helmets, clothing and, of course, bikes, it can be an expensive lark to get into. Thankfully if you shop smart you can avoid the hefty bills and get out racing on a (fairly) affordable budget.

Here are seven bargain enduro mountain bike for under £2,000. They may not come with the blingiest kit, but the solid frames will be the perfect platform for later upgrades.

YT Capra Al

The YT Capra has been a favourite of ours for a long time. When the aluminium version came along, many people were asking if it would live up to the carbon’s reputation. They may well have been asking: “Do bears shit in the woods?”

At the moment you can pick one up even cheaper in YT’s winter sale. What are you waiting for!?

vitus sommet vr

Chain Reaction Cycles’ in-house brand Vitus offers this ready to race Sommet for a penny short of two grand with 160mm of travel and full SLX groupset.

Our tests suggest its numbers are spot on and it’s more than capable of ripping. If you want something a bit more nimble, the short travel Escarpe is also available for under the magical £2k mark.

Radon Swoop 170 7.0

You’re going to have to watch the markets with this one. The Radon Swoop is only sold in Euros but keep your eye on the exchange rate and we reckon you can snaffle one for under £2,000.

We were blown away by this bike when we tested it and were close to calling it an enduro top dog. Not bad for this amount of money.

Propain Tyee AM Comp

With a great look, classic enduro geometry and a lightweight build, the Tyee will tick many of the boxes an enduro rider is seeking.

This is a great all-round, long travel bike. That will reward riders that want to spend all day in the saddle.

Rose Uncle Jimbo 1

Despite its Operation Yewtree name, the Rose Uncle Jimbo falls well within a £2,000 budget, leaving you a couple of hundred quid for some immediate upgrades (we’d start with a dropper post).

We’re yet to get our hands on one but this looks to have a solid spec and decent numbers on paper.

Commencal Meta AM V4.2 Origin 650B Yellow 2016

Commencal offer swathes of enduro bikes for under £2k including old V3 and V4 models. Our pick has to be the latest V4.2 though that comes with new kinematics and a slimmer waist.

If anything the Meta is simply an evolution of an already proven bike, more than anything though we love the durability of the aluminium frame, the visuals and of course the shape and feel of this bike.

Marin Attack Trail 7

If you can look past the unsightly top tube/seat tube joint, Marin is offering a great package with the Attack Trail 7. This bike has been dominating the British Enduro scene under the Marin Stans enduro team and now you can grab a piece of the action.

Marin are offering a lot of big value bikes this year. Check out our write up of the Hawk Hill that blew us away earlier in the year.
