It is in Morgins, Switzerland, that you get to unleash the not so fine detail of the Scott Gambler. Under the towering Dents du Midi you get to realize there is more to this bike than pure muscle, you also get a sniff of the genesis of this thumper in the process. >>
The bike might have a fair set of balls, it can hammer hard, but the essence of the Gambler is sensitivity at speed, for it’s only then that you get to release its weightless pace. Sounds not so simple right? OK it’s a serious bike for serious tracks and Scott might consider adding in their sales pitch that you need a committed attitude to complement this high living bruiser, because you can only realise the finer detail once up to speed.
The Gambler is some bike. Original. Un–plagiarized, unlike so many others, it comes very much in the Foes DH Mono, Intense M9, Yeti 303 mind–set and power heritage. Only better I reckon. Of the current era this bike has no real equals, for few people or places on these latitudes will ask any serious questions of Scott’s new downhiller, a bike that wants to get off the hill in one hell of a hurry. And thus lies the only real question mark over this bike. Is it too much bike?
