The Avatar is insanely light, so if that’s your top priority you don’t need to look any further. They’ve achieved this by using the type of ‘in–moulding’ technique that we usually see on high–end XC and piss pot lids, and so the outer shell, which is a mix of carbon, fibre glass and Kevlar, combines with the EPS foam core to provide the overall strength needed. It does feel a little more flexible in the chin area than some lids, but it still feels more than up to the job. The breakaway visor is a nice touch too, but you’ll need a round rather than long head to get it to fit well.
