Aaron Gwin’s custom World Championship YT Tues frame revealed

Another stars and stripes special for Gwin

Gwin has raced on a stars and stripes themed bike at the World Championships for the past few years, but his latest machine from YT Tues is a very different beast.

As this is YT’s first ever World Championships they wanted to arrive in style. No kitsch. No candy. This was all about a stylish collectors item that would instantly catch the eye.

Very different from the ‘in your face’ themes of years gone by

Adrian Flor, a designer from Dresden, put over 50 hours into hand painting every detail on the frame and describes it as the most elaborate project he has ever worked on. The paint adds a total of 230 grams to Gwins bike but seeing as Adrian was given a ‘budget’ of 300 grams he’s way under the weight limit.

Adrian’s attention to detail is exemplary

Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like Aaron will be loading his bike with custom components but instead will be using the tried and tested kit he’s run all season. After completing his fourth World Cup Overall title, will this be the frame that finally breaks Aaron Gwin’s World Champs duck?

It's not just painting, a lot of grinding and smoothing went into the process
The magician's wands. Not a sticker in sight here
Ready to go...
The level of detail on the frame is phenomenal
No turning back now
Red went on first
Then blue
