What Manon, Tahnee and Tracey have been aiming for all season has finally been done by 79 women at the Red Bull Foxhunt in Cumbria – Rachel Atherton has been beaten.
OK, so she gave them a big head start, had to battle past 144 other women and got a puncture in the first straight, so we reckon she gets a pass.
This is the third year the event has been run and over 200 women took to Melmerby Scar to challenge themselves against the World Champion. It was Rosie Holdsworth who was fastest down the 2.04km course with a time of 3:44.870, but really the event was about getting as many women on bikes as possible to have an awesome day out.
Rachel said: “It was absolutely amazing! I got a puncture right at the start, but I knew I had to carry on – this is Red Bull Foxhunt! I was right in the middle of everybody and passing them. I had to really think and use my head to get past people. It was so cool watching the women riding down. It was amazing, everyone cheering at the finish. I just want to go and do it again.”
