It began with a bike that became iconic piloted by riders such as Mike King, Leigh Donovan, Gee Atherton, John Tomac, Greg Minnaar. The M1 was successful even before it became engraved into the memory’s of nearly every rider of the time through the antics of Sam Hill and Chris Kovarik.
So in the current ruck to make 29″ dh let’s not forget for one minute that Jeff Steber was making 29 inch downhill bikes eight years ago.
We went to visit him at home in California while he worked on his latest creation – a new prototype downhill based on 29″ wheels. Watch him work as he explains his philosophy on bike design, racing and the mountain bike industry.
