The team left Fort William Sunday evening and drove straight to Leogang for the third Round of the UCI Downhill World Cup. Driving through the night we arrived first in a very wet and miserable looking Leogang.
The rest of the weekend remained dry and hot and the freshly built “BMX” track was as hard as concrete.
Junior rider George Kerr had a big off in practice, knocking him out for the count and putting him out of contention for qualification. Henry qualified and put in a strong race run with two good top splits only to fall in the later part of the track.
Our two elites, Phil Atwill and David Trummer put in great performances. On a track that had no room for error David placed in 24th making a mistake on a important corner on the top section of the track. He was only 1 second of the top ten.
Times were to say the least, tight. Phil who always seems to go well at Leogang despite it not being his favorite track, spent a long portion of the afternoon sat in the hot seat sipping on a ice cold one placing 16th. Good results all round and a step in the right direction. The team now has a Austrian road trip planned starting at Mr Trummers house, then IXS Schladming and Crankworks Insbruck. Keep your eyes peeled for their antics online. More content to come !
