They have dominated road cycling at the highest level with Cadel Evans and Tour de France victory, and with Julien Absalon reached the pinnacle of mountain bike cross country World Cup racing. With the BMC Trailfox TF02 X01 which we first reviewed a few years ago, they could easily do the same in enduro racing.
As a company they pretty much keep themselves to themselves stating “a higher value or a value in excess of that normally or usually expected when it comes to manufacturing quality.” They certainly do have an edge over most of the competition in so many respects. But why so silently? From design, to prototypes and on to testing it’s all done pretty secretly. Nothing gets let out of the bag until it’s totally correct. We like this.

Carbon quality
If its arguable whether any bike gets as close to perfect geometry as the 150mm travel Trailfox from Swiss company BMC then its undoubtable that few will match the frame build and quality of this bike. BMC have their own carbon production and R&D facility in Grenchen, the bike is certainly a phenomenon when it comes to build quality.
The TF 01 and TF 02 Trailfox bikes differ very slightly. The former running Sram XX1 and DT Swiss 1501 wheelset, Shimano XTR brake 203 mm rotors compared to the X01, DT Swiss 1700 wheelset and Shimano XT brakeset on this the 02. We prefer the latter, and it’s cheaper. At £4299 it’s a lot of bike and is over £1700 cheaper than an S-Works Enduro with only 5mm less travel.
