Macclesfield

"Dual sesh loam is serious"

Deep, dark woods, sodden loam, tracks hacked out with mattocks. The opening section of A Bigger Slice of British Pie typified a day of winter riding.

The 50/01 boys brought along a massive crew of riders all frothing at the mouth to hit Macclesfield forest. Starting with a dual race, riders were throwing their back wheels into soft corners until Sam Dale barrelled through and left it in tatters.

From there to the jibs – a 50/01 staple. Slippery rocks, ramshackle dry-stone walls and a natural wall ride, all sessioned and conquered.

We spoke to Loosedog and Rat about the day:

Josh Lewis

Where was the shoot?

A wood near Macclesfield

Who was on the shoot with you?

Wow, too many to name, lots showed up from all over the country

How did Tommy C approach you about the day? Were you stoked to come back after last year’s film?

I heard about the session and got involved!! Yeah it’s always good to get the British scene stuff out there, i feel like everyone contributes there own bit which makes it so healthy.

How did this year’s shoot compare to last years?

Pretty similar to be honest, muddy loamy session with plenty of slams.

What was your favourite moment of the shoot?

Getting filled in by Sambo’s roost, he goes like fuck in that wood.

Who had the biggest bail?

Joel Anderson’s shock

What was the 30+ people at dual slalom like?

Good energy, lots of fun.

What’s the story with the wall you rode over?

Me and Phil headed over as it looked on. First time I stood on it it shifted and I fell flat on my back haha. It was very loose.

How about the 180 off the log?

180 felt good, the log was slippy and I was surprised I didn’t eat shit spinning off it. Had to be real light on the wheels.

Tell us about the footplant session on the fireroad with Phil

We were on our way back to the vans. There were loads of rad walls made from dirt so we were just boosting our way down. The one I footplanted was so good we stopped to get some clips. Phil’s nose stall was rad. Love you Phil.

Where was the shoot?

We started at a farm belonging to a TURN RIPPA where Tommy and Ed had constructed one hell of a catapult. Then we headed to dimmo FM for some shreddddding.

Who was on the shoot with you?

Phil, Ed and Tommy. Then when we got to the riding spot there was  a whole gang more – Joel Anderson joined and da Hockeys / Craig Sevenz.

How did this year’s shoot compare to last year’s?

It was fun man. Theres been a solid crew on all the shoots so it was super fun vibe.

What was your favourite moment of the shoot?

Any time Phil got fired up and did something wild, love watching that boy ride.

Did you know about the catapult before the day? What did you think when you saw it?

Haha I laughed!!! Big tingZ

What’s the story behind the cream pie to phil’s face?

Just a bitta payback for last year when he got me on the boat. There was no give in Tommy’s mums pie. It was delicious but hard to the nose.

How did Phil end up naked on his moped?

He just took his clothes off and started doing wheelies. No one asked him to.
