Manon Carpenter had her season capped off perfectly with a win at the Hafjell World Champs 2014. She’s been riding high all season and with the overall title bagged a couple of weeks back in Meribel she was confident coming into Hafjell without too much pressure for the win.
Hitting the big jumps up top smoothly and landing the backsides perfectly Manon took a tight inside line on the last kicker to set her up for the first rock section. Through that at full tilt it’s into the woods and some twisting corners at even higher speed before letting it go over a wooden jump and into the open for a few pedal strokes.
Into the high speed berms the pace gets higher and the lines get more open, another big jump and the massive road gap sent her into the next section fast. Linking up some more turns and then getting into the tight wooded section Manon maintains her speed and nips through the tight gap that caught a few riders out.
Turning on the gas Carpenter opens it up in the bottom section and it’s brakes off for the long turns before sending it into the woods for the last time. Out into the open and down towards the big bridge jump she’s turned the light green and crosses the line into the hot seat. The perfect run came together for Manon and she takes her first Elite World Champs title.
