So the Schwalbe British 4X Series is back again this weekend at the ultra fast Penshurst Track in Kent. The ‘Porc’ track has been around almost as long as 4X has, and the club have been making a few changes for round 2 of the 2011 series.
Famous for its mega long second straight where the riders are racing at 40 mph over bridges and double jumps before it tightens up on the hairpin turns. The track always provides fantastic racing and exciting viewing for the crowd.
After round 1, World Cup regulars, Scott ‘Boom Boom’ Beaumont and Katy Curd made their 2011 intentions very clear with unbeaten days in the men’s and women’s elite class. That could all change this weekend though.
In the men’s class, 2010 National 4X Series and National 4X Champion Will Longden should be making his return to racing after being injured over the whole winter. His comeback will definitely shake the results up.
In the women’s, Katy sustained a pretty serious shoulder injury at last weekends 1st Schwalbe Euro 4X round in Belgium. This could give the other women a chance to get in front and challenge her dominant start to the British Series.
