Schwalbe British 4X Series 2013 – Round 4 – Redhill, Gloucestershire

This Sunday, 23rd June, sees the Schwalbe British 4X Series travelling to Redhill in Gloucestershire. Redhill is probably the most famous 4X track in the UK and we are looking forward to a fantastic weekend, especially because the guys and girls at Redhill have been working as hard as ever to ensure that the track is in perfect condition and ready for the riders to do battle.

Redhill is famous for being one of the most flowing tracks in the UK, with multi lines and high speed for the riders. The track is also perfect for spectators to see every inch of the track from almost anywhere on the hill side.

WHO TO WATCH:

Fresh from her win in the 4X ProTour in Val Di Sole last weekend, Katy Curd will be racing and without doubt comes into this weekend as the favourite in the women’s class. She is currently on a winning streak and will again be looking to win this weekend. Redhill, however may not prove to be the easiest of races for her though.

Cara Murray has been riding at her best in 2013 and is a local at Redhill. She knows every inch of this track and knows just how to get the most out of it. Watch for Cara to be fighting for that win. Suzanne Lacey, the 2012 women’s number 1, has not had the best of luck in 2013, but Redhill has treated her well in the past so look for her to also be fighting for the win. With so many women racing in 2013, there could be an upset from any one of the rookies in the women’s class.

In the men’s, and Scott Beaumont has been the dominant force in British 4X in 2013, winning 2 rounds and finishing 2ndat Falmouth behind Tomas Slavik. Like Katy, Scott will be back in the UK, fresh from finishing 2nd at the 4X ProTour in Val Di Sole last weekend, so will be in confident mood coming into Redhill.

Nathan Parsons will also be feeling good after a career best 12th position in Italy last weekend. Isaac Mundy has had a steady start to 2013, but look for the wild riding style to be near the front in Redhill. Tom Dowie, DanBatesson and local rider Luke Limbrick will all fancy a shot at the win too. The first turn however must really suit Duncan Ferris and Will Evans. When it gets tight and line choice is critical, these 2 guys can make it work week in, week out.

The elite men have had around 30 riders at every race so far in 2013, so with a field as strong as that, it really could be anyone’s race.

The 2013 Schwalbe British 4X Series has been superb. Loads of new faces, great racing at every race and a friendly atmosphere that is rarely found at gravity mountain bike races.If you ever thought, I’d like to give 4X a go, but I’m not sure, well the wait is over. Everyone who has ever ridden Redhill loves the place. The track is great for beginners and elite riders and with the track being open all day Saturday, you can get a full weekend of riding and experience in 4X.

The track is open but you have to pay the normal riding fee of £5 per rider.
