Mavic and Shimano sign on as sponsors for the 2013 five date UK Gravity Enduro series. A new timing system is also being used and it looks like they now have an owl as a logo. Not sure if it’s a Tawny or a Barn. But the timing system is definitely Tag Heuer.
Gravity Enduro Race organiser Steve Parr told us:
There are two main sponsors for 2013, Shimano and Mavic are joining the growing UK enduro race scene. We’ve also got an all new timing set up for 2013, it’s a TAG Heuer system, Chris Roberts (Mini-DH/Naked Racing) will be running the timing, its all GPS’d back to a central point, using light beams and transponders. It will be super accurate, the same as the current DH system. As in previous years, the format will be one seeding run on Saturday and five stages on the Sunday, all to count towards your overall. Some people may say £60 is expensive, but they may also say a pint of milk is expensive, it’s all relative to your perception of value for money. The dates are all now up on www.ukgravityenduro.com couple of venues just need to be fully confirmed, rounds 1 and 5, just waiting full FC approval.
The dates are:
Rd1 Afan, Wales March 23th-24th 2013
Rd2 Innerleithen, Scotland April 27th-28th 2013
Rd3 Hamsterley Forest, England 26th-27th May 2013
Rd4 Dyfi Forest, Wales 17th-18th August 2013
Rd5 Triscombe, England 7th-8th September 2013
Cost per round is £60. Hit up www.ukgravityenduro.com for more info.
Steve will be assisted by new partner Charlie Williams, many of the Enduro racers will already know Charlie from the start or finish arena, he finished 2nd overall in the masters category.
“Shimano are delighted to continue to support the UK Gravity Enduro series in 2013. Last season saw Enduro really come into its own as a recognised discipline and no doubt this will continue in 2013 and we are excited to see what the year will bring.
The presence of the Shimano Tech Support team at last years races was an extremely popular resource for the riders and we will once again be bringing the expertise of our Shimano mechanics to the series, offering free repair to make sure every rider can make it to the start line on race day.”
