Some big names in World Cup downhill racing are lined up to race at Leogang this week, May 24th – 27th.
Leogang, Austria is hosting the World Champs this year so looks like a load of riders are taking the opportunity to check out the track. Could be a WC race this with the amount of stars signed up.
Gee Atherton is down on the startlist as well so we’ll have to see if he’s fit to race.
Ben Reid and Duncan Riffle from the Dirt Norco team are heading out in the Thundertruck so we’ll try and get some helmet cam footage for you.
The 26Trix comp is also going down. Semenuk, Pilgrim, Soderstrom and co will be sending it large.
Bad news for the 4x crew. The 4x race has been cancelled, which is a shame because the Leogang track provided some great racing.

The Out of Bounds Festival is going into its seventh edition being recognized as one of the most important mountain bike events in Europe. Not without reasons it is often compared to the Crankworx Festival in Whistler. Concerning line up and atmosphere the Out of Bounds Festival is in no way inferior to its Canadian brother-event. The hosts in Leogang proudly present the probably most prominent line up a European iXS Downhill Cup ever had.
Here a short excerpt:
Troy Brosnan (AUS)
Mick Hannah (AUS)
Tracey Hannah (AUS)
Markus Pekoll (AUT)
Cedric Gracia (FRA)
Floriane Pugin (FRA)
Gee Atherton (GBR)
Rachel Atherton (GBR)
Brendon Fairclough (GBR)
Sam Blenkinsop (NZL)
Cameron Cole (NZL)
Brook MacDonald (NZL)
As the second highlight, the 26TRIX fueled by Monster Energy is also hosted in the Bikepark Leogang. Within the freeride scene this event is noticed as one of the most action-packed shows at all. Being judged as one of only eight Gold events by the Freeride Mountain Bike Association (FMBA), we get to see the biggest names of freeriding in Leogang: Title defender Brandon Semenuk as well as his Canadian compatriot, the 16 year old trick machine Anthony Messere, Sam Pilgrim and Sam Reynolds from Great Britain or the Swedish trick machine Martin Soderstrom will give their best to take away as many World Tour points as possible and of course a big chunk of the prize purse of 15,000 Euro.
The only downer comes from Four Cross: Due to the low participation in the Euro Four Cross Series (EFS), the planned competition on the 4X-World Championship track will be canceled. All 4X fans will have a good reason to come to Leogang again this year: For the UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships from August 29th to September 9th in, when the world’s 4X elite will start in the battle for the 4X World Champion.

But this shouldn’t diminish the anticipation for the Out of Bounds Festival: Besides the 26TRIX fueled by Monster Energy and the iXS European Downhill Cup, there will be the already traditional Bunny Hop Contest on Friday, May 25th at 9:30pm. Everybody that has been to the Out of Bounds Festival before knows that you cannot leave Leogang without stopping by the legendary Override Afterparty fueled by Monster Energy! (on Saturday, May 26th from 21:00h, minimum age for admission: 16 years!)
You don’t want to miss a second of the Out of Bounds Festival? The tourist association Saalfelden Leogang has the right offer for you: The 3 days Out of Bounds Festival package. It includes 3 accommodations in the particular comfort class, as well as 3 days lift passes and optional a bike adventure day with riding technique lessons and a one day tour.
The Bikepark Leogang and its event partners are looking forward to welcome a lot of spectators for some great mountain bike action. Thus, mark the Pentecost weekend in your calendar and off to Leogang!
