Loris Vergier leaves Team Specialized Gravity

It's official

Team SPecialized Gravity have confirmed that Loris Vergier is leaving the team for 2017.

We’ve had hints for weeks but the official announcement is finally here. Team Specialized Gravity Racing posted on Instagram: “The team rumours have been crazy lately, and here is an official announcement. Our friend, team mate and brother Loris Vergier will not be racing for Specialized next year. His future is bright and we wish him all the success he works for.

“Thanks Loris for the good times and the fast races”

Laurent Delorme, the team manager of Specialized Gravity Racing said: “Taking a super talented kid from a crazy boy to a strong WC podium-er was a great honour.

“During these 4 years with him, we had some super low and super high times, from hospital to podium, from testing to go kart race, from cry to scream of pleasure.

“He was a great team mate, and we are pretty sure that he also learned a lot from the team’s good vibe.

“We are really proud of what he became, and we will continue to support him during his sport career.”

Vergier joined the team as a junior while they were still racing on Lapierre bikes back in 2013. He clinched the double in 2014 by winning the Junior World Cup overall and then the World Championships in Hafjell.

He came in hot to the elite rankings in 2015 and took his first podium with a third place at Windham. 2016 saw the team switch to Specialized bikes and Vergier had his best season yet. He took second place at Leogang and finished seventh in the overall.

Loris vergier’s comment

Vergier said: “2016 was the last time I have you guys as team mates, but I’ll never let you go as brothers, bad or good moments! Those 4 years will be unforgettable, thanks to Laurent Delorme who gave me the opportunity to ride on world cups with such a team and everyone that believed in what I love to do, riding! Love ya!!”

Where to next?

Loris Vergier is bound to be hot property. He’s only a third year elite but has already shown massive speed and maturity.

There is speculation about him heading to the Santa Cruz Syndicate, but any team would be happy to have him – could we even see him at a brand new team in the pits? One thing’s for sure though, the first race of the 2017 season is going to be very interesting!
