Team Rumours: Are Loic Bruni and Loris Vergier about to part ways?

"There are going to be quite a few changes for next year"

We’ve just had our first solid hint at a racing rumour for 2017 thanks to the trailer for Episode Six of Bruni and Vergier vs the World.

Episode six of season two is set to be the final episode. Does that mean that Vergier and Bruni are set to part ways? Well, we have further hints thanks to the press release that came with the video. It said: “It’s been a great season but the last episode of the series is coming this Friday. In fact this is the final ever episode as there are going to be quite a few changes for next year!”

In the trailer, Bruni also says: “Every good thing comes to an end and we couldn’t have picked a better place to do some last shredding.” We’ll have to wait until Friday to see what’s in the full film but let’s hope it clears up where Bruni and Vergier are headed (if anywhere at all!).

The Specialized Gravity Republic only formed this season as Bruni and Vergier left Lapierre together. They enjoyed a successful year with Bruni picking up his first win and Vergier cementing his place as a top ten rider. The two fastest Frenchmen in the world seemed to be best friends and a great mix, we wonder what has prompted this sudden change?

Where to next?

So where could one of them go? We know Santa Cruz has a seat free after Steve Peat’s retirement, however when we spoke to Santa Cruz they said they may not fill it at all.

Norco will also be after a rider with Harry Heath retiring. It’s no secret that Loic and Sam Blenkinsop are good friends, could that be a potential swaying factor for the former World Champion?

Of course, it could even be something totally left field that we’re not even aware of yet. All we know is it’s going to be an interesting off season watching the moving and shaking go down.

It seems like Finn Iles will be staying put with Specialized though as he posted this Instagram over the weekend. The caption says: “The A-team! Cant wait to get back riding with these guys in the new year!”
