The Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour kicked off on April 11th at the Vienna Air King in Austria and Sam Pilgrim from the UK is the current tour leader. Since the last update there have been three new events to join the FMB World Tour: the Monster Dirt Contest at Balaton Bike Fest in Hungary, Lublin Off the Track in Poland and the urban Slopestyle Contest Pisek in the Czech Republic. FMB Tour athletes will now have the opportunity to compete in 18 events in nine countries. There will be four different classifications: DIAMOND, GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE and the higher the event ranking the more points that will be available for the FMB World Tour ranking. Each athlete will need to compete in a minimum of four FMB World tour stops and their four best overall results will count for their overall ranking and an opportunity to win part of the 20,000 Euros (over 25,000 US Dollars) prize fund.
The FMB World Tour website has officially launched. The new website gives detailed information on the tour, all the competitions, bios on the FMB World Tour athletes, and official FMB World Tour rankings. After the first event, the Vienna Air King in Austria, Sam Pilgrim (GBR / Ashton Diamondback / 500 points) leads the world ranking in front of Martin Soderstrom (SWE / NS Bikes / 455 points) and Jamie Goldman (USA / Santa Cruz / 420 points). The second tour stop will take place at the FISE Action Sports Festival in Montpellier, France (SILVER EVENT) on May 13th to 16th.
The FBMA is proud to have new FMB World Tour supporters on board: Clif Bar, Easton, Freeride Magazine, Mondraker, Mountainbike Rider Magazine, Rocky Mountain Bicycles, SR Suntour and Tutto Mountainbike Magazine joined the club additional to the early supporters: adidas Eyewear, Alexrims, Avid, BigBike Magazine, Bikepark Leogang, Bike Magazine (USA), CamelBak, Decline Magazine, GT, Manitou, Mavic, Mongoose, RockShox, Scott, Specialized, SRAM, Truvativ and TSG.
