Fort William is a venerable old track that has now hosted 13 consecutive World Cup races. The track has largely remained the same in that time with a few tweaks here and there. This time it’s the controversial motorway that comes with a new look.
So what’s new? Well it’s largely similar to before but the jumps have had a facelift for this year and the kink into the Visit Scotland sender has been replaced with a straighter step up (which we’re sure Manon Carpenter will be glad about). Check out another view of the lips here – it looks like riders can expect some serious hang time!
Danny Hart said on the British Downhill Series Facebook page: “They’re really lipped up and they feel really short. I’ve been clearing them without pedalling.”
However, that’s not a good thing in his eyes, he has warned other riders to be careful and said: “It’s going to catch a few people out and they need to have a look at that.” Tahnee Seagrave has also posted a video of herself overshooting one of the new jumps.
Of course, it probably doesn’t help that the track is unusually dry for this time of year and let’s not forget most of us will not be hitting them at World Cup speeds.
Round two of the British Downhill series will be coming from the Bill this weekend with the World Cup series visiting it on the first weekend in June.
