Brit domination at the World Champs

Gee Atherton won the mens final at the World Champs in Val Di Sole. A thrilling final saw Peat take over the hot seat from Barel, where he stayed till the last man down. All eyes were on Hill, 6 secs up at the split and looking good. Hill went massive over the drop out of the woods and hit the left hander at warp speed. He’d been drifting this all week but this time over cooked it and went down.
Gee came down last, 2 secs up on Peaty’s split. Peaty sat nervously in the hot seat looking at the big screen. Gee was on a flier and crossed the line with a 3:12.12, 2.62 up on Peaty, and took his first World Championship win.

Suemasa set the early pace, Moseley crashed and for a while it was looking like a French one, two, three, with Sabrina, Emmeline Ragot and Floriane Pugin. Then Rachel A hit the course and destroyed Sabrina’s split time, crossing the line 12 secs up to claim her first rainbow jersey.

Sam Dale was in the hot seat with six riders left to come down the hill, Bryceland took over with a 3:23.55 nearly 8 seconds up. Remi Thirion last to come down had a slilght off near the top, then went over the bars on a tight left-right-tree stump line and crossed the line 3rd.

Junior Womens podium.
