2012 British National Champs this weekend at Moelfre

This weekend will see the UK’s fastest racers go head to head to win the title of the British Cycling National Champion.

Can 2011 National Champions, Ruaridh Cunningham and Tracy Moseley retain their crown. Well Tracy is racing the Megavalanche this weekend so the Elite Women’s title is up for grabs. Is RoyCat racing?

That’s a full year’s bragging rights to wear the jersey at every race and show everybody you are number one! This weekend will see the UK’s fastest racers go head to head to win the title of the British Cycling National Champion. British Cycling National Championships presented by Halo.
Saturday and Sunday the 21st and 22nd of July 2012.

Event Location:
Event Location will be well sign posted.
Farmer Jac’s
Moelfre Hall
Moelfre
SY10 7QJ
Just 15 minutes West of Oswestry near Llansilin.
One hour west of Birmingham,
OS: SJ 189 283

We recommend you put Llansilin into your SatNav rather than SY10 7QJ for directions to the track. Please note that there are several Moelfre’s in Wales and you will need the one close to Oswestry.
If the Moelfre you have found is more than 15 minutes from Oswestry then you have found the wrong one.

Head along the B4580 by the Old Race Course, through LLawnt, through Rhydycroesau and then into Llansilin. The road curves left (there’s a phone box on the right hand side). After 50 yards turn the first right by the 4×4 garage and then first right again, signposted Moelfre. Head up and follow the road to the left, after a mile and almost at the bottom of the dip turn right. Follow the road up for one mile, taking caution through the narrow lanes and twisty corners and the race venue will greet you on the right hand side.

Admission Charges: Free to everyone!
Parking and Camping Is free of charge for everyone including spectators. Please note that there will be specific camping and parking areas away from the pit and finish area, so if you arrive in the early hours of Saturday morning and park in the taped off area then you will have to move.

There will be drinking water available on site and this will be the same source for bike washing – there is a hose pipe attached and please bring your brushes and cleaner to keep your bikes running sweet for the weekend.

Course Description:
The start is 545meters above sea level.
The finish is 238meters above sea level.
318 meters is the total vertical drop and the track is 2.32kms long.

The course is the fastest in the U.K. Flat out open sections up top and you will be going 30mph plus! We then drop into the switch backs before attacking the road crossing and the long rocky straight. Weather permitting you will hit the 4x track, so get your jumps dialled before you descend into the huge finish arena. There is only one tree on course, so don’t hit it! The course will still be physically and technically challenging and your race run will be on average 2-3 minutes long.
