The Interbike International Bicycle Expo is North America’s largest bike industry gathering, and the world’s leading two-day demo event, and its recent growth means it is now considered one of the most important trade events for the global bicycle industry. It is a place for manufacturers, service providers, retailers, distributors, importers and media to come together to discover emerging trends and conduct the business of cycling.
First staged in Las Vegas in 1982, it has also been held in Reno, Anaheim and Philadelphia, but it moved back to Las Vegas in the mid-1990s and has remained there ever since. From 2000 to 2012, it was held at the Sands Expo and Convention Center, but in 2013 it was moved to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
More than 1,200 cycling-related brands and over 25,000 people attend each year, many of them most excited by the new cycling products and technologies that are launched there. As well as bikes, more than 60 seminars, panel discussions and technical clinics are held as part of the Interbike University programme, covering topics such as online marketing, retail shopping experience trends and the latest consumer behaviour research.
The first two days of the five-day event are given over to the Interbike OutDoor Demo at Bootleg Canyon Mountain Bike Park in nearby Boulder City, Nevada. The event gives retailers and members of the media a hands-on opportunity to ride and test the latest models and technology that they will be seeing and talking about later in the week on the show floor.
