This section of the Dirt 100 wouldn’t be complete without a rim from Mavic, and to be honest it’s hard to just pick one. The company have been setting the benchmark when it comes to rims ever since we can remember, and the EX 823 is no exception. It’s their strongest UST (tubeless) offering and it’s proven to be more than up to DH use, but if you tend to be hard on wheels then the 655g weight might be a price worth paying even for your trail bike wheels.

This particular rim might well be one of our favourites, but like I said, Mavic make a massive range of rims, of which almost all are hard to fault, and so it’s really just a case of picking which particular one suits your individual needs best
