As a 29er tyre, nothing can boast or beat the qualities of the Beaver tyre from Maxxis. The tyre features dual-compound rubber (a hard inner layer with a softer outer layer), several sidewall options, low-profile spiked knobs to dig into wet, boggy mud, and all of this comes as a ludicrously light package. These are quite simply the best tyre solution for wet or intermediate conditions when it comes to big wheels.
One thing we will say is that these are best used pumped up reasonably hard as they are quite minimal (which explains why they only weigh 620g) and if you don’t they can fold quite easily in turns, but their aggressive tread pattern, reminiscent of the now discontinued classic, the Swampthing, can cope with anything nature can throw at them.
