As you can see from these pages we reckon Mavic have got it pretty sewn up when it comes to wheelsets. Others get close, but in terms of an all–round package these set the standard. The hubs are a tried and tested design, the UST rims are equally well proven, and the overall build is faultless. Perhaps the killer part of the package though is the balance of weight to strength versus price.
There may well be stronger and lighter wheels but they cost a whole lot more, and likewise there are cheaper wheelsets but we don’t think they’re as good. Mavic have just pitched their wheels perfectly in our opinion, and these 1590g trail wheels are just one example of that. They might not be super light, but they’ve got plenty of strength left in reserve for that unexpected battle with a rock, and we’d personally always rather carry that weight around rather than having to walk back home.
