Tracey Hannah’s Morewood Makulu | Pro Bike

Age?
24.

Job?
Trainee operator at a sand mine.

Where do you live?
Redlands Bay, Queensland, Australia.

Morewood and Hutchinson United Ride, how did that come about?
United Ride were speaking to my brother Mick and he mentioned that I would race again if they were interested. Everyone got really excited about the idea and it pretty much happened from there.

How is the bike compared to your orange that you used to race on?
The Morewood is a totally different bike, the suspension works awesome, it rides really well.

How would you describe women’s racing having been out of the world cup scene for a few years?
I think it’s getting better, as in it is getting more notice. The riding level is definitely higher, lots of girls pushing the limits. I’m loving it, it’s awesome, it just makes me want to be faster. I love it when we can hit the big stuff with the boys.

Has the bike technology changed much in that period?
Yeah, I’d say every year it changes, bikes are getting better and better. It’s the same with the components.

How would you describe your riding style?
I just want to ride like a boy!

How would you describe your bike’s set-up?
Small and ready to race.

What about your Suspension, how do you run it?
Everything changes a little bit each race/track because there are such huge differences. It’s set up harder than your average ‘Sunday ride’ bike.

What about the components? Anything special?
Everything is special, I’m getting custom 160 cranks from e.thirteen!

Always clipped in?
Definitely.

What do you feel is the most important part of your bike?
Tyres, because they’re the ones on the track!

You got any idea of the weight of this bike?
17kg.

Do you go in for titanium bolts?
Is there any top secret stuff or modifications on the bike?

I work in a Sibelco sand mine that extracts the mineral that makes titanium, so I love running it on my bike.

Did you go through many parts? What mainly?
No not really, I’m just a girl (ha ha).

If you could change one thing about the bike what would it be?
Seat position, I have to have it high so it doesn’t hit the wheel but my legs are pretty short.
