The DMR V12 has got to be the most iconic pedal to have graced our cranks in recent times. Everyone has had a set and I remember buying my first pair, for some reason in yellow, from the local shop and they are still in the shed even now.

Developed from an open mould the guys at DMR really stuck it all on the line to come up with their own design after seeing the success of Shimano’s DX pedal and wanting to create something of their own.

The DMR pedal was, and for many still is, the pedal to have under your sticky rubber soles. Having brought us the V8 and V12 pedals DMR took their time to develop a new offering, the Vault was born and it’s a favourite in these parts for being a solid all rounder. Myself, big Mike Rose and Chris the designer all run Vaults and will be giving the new V12’s a good thrashing soon. They have made it into the Dirt 100 in both 2012 and 2013 with both Mr Rose and James McKnight choosing them in their ‘Can’t Live Without’ section.

The all new DMR V12

Building on both the history of the V12 and the success of the Vault DMR have taken the V12 in a new direction. It’s got the looks and brand of the cult pedal that launched back in 1999 along with the up to date features of their latest top end product at an affordable price. The V12 always had a cast pedal body and that hasn’t changed but what is different are the numbers, 10% larger platform, 35% lower profile and it’s 20% lighter than the original. The new V12 bridges a gap, not just in the pedals we choose to ride but in the history of our sport. It’s a bold move from DMR to change something so iconic but it’s putting themselves on the line that got the V12 going in the first place so it seems fitting an equally bold move takes this product to the next level.

Ready to roll, the Mag version of the DMR V12’s are about to go on test at Dirt
