It’s no secret that we love the 36 fork. It’s been 12 years since it hit the market and once again it was one of our picks for the Dirt 100 this year.
You don’t stay great for long in the fast-moving world of mtb if you don’t constantly refine your design though and that’s what Fox has done for 2018 (well, April 207). The fork has been tested by none other than Richie Rude all through the 2016 season and Fox is finally happy enough with it to release it publicly.
The biggest change is the introduction of a new EVOL spring in the negative air chamber. This comes from the recently updated 34 fork. EVOL stands for Extra Volume but besides a bigger chamber it also has fewer dynamic seals. This is claimed to create a more linear curve in the first 25 per cent of travel then offer greater mid-stroke support.
Also coming across from the 34 are the screw-in bottom-out resistance tokens – a much easier system than the previous 36 ones that you had top slide down an aluminium rod.
