Greg Callaghan triumphed in the EWS Madeira today. He pulled back an overnight DEFICIT of 15 seconds to end up ahead of the pack by more than five.

This is the first EWS race Greg has won outside of Ireland so he’ll no doubt be happy to show that he can still beat the best in the world without home advantage. Callaghan only finished outside of the top ten on one stage all weekend and even grabbed a win on stage 7.

Second place went to Martin Maes with Damien Oton staying consistent in third. First year senior Adrein Dially actually grabbed four stage wins but two disastrous stages on day two lost him too much time and he finished 19th.

Greg now leads the overall EWS standings with Sam Hill second and Martin Maes third.

It was normal service resumed for Cecile Ravanel in Madeira as she took the top step back from Isabeau Courdurier. Ravanel won all but two stages in a domineering performance.  Israeli privateer Noga Korem turned plenty of heads and finished third – we can’t wait to see what she has in store for the rest of the year.
