Most of you probably already know, but for those of you that don’t we rate BOS’s incredible Idylle Air fork as the best downhill fork out there, but we’ve just had news in that a new version of the fork is about to become available. The BOS Idylle FCV 37 will be available in both 26″ and 27.5″ wheel sizes and will feature several significant changes.
First of all the travel has been increased from 200mm up to a fairly sizeable 208mm, and all this travel will now be controlled by what BOS are calling a ‘Frequency Control Valve’, hence the ‘FCV’ in the name. BOS say this helps the fork track the ground better, thereby increasing grip. It also makes the fork cope better with square edged impacts, and helps to reduce rider fatigue. There will also be a new hydraulic bump stop to control the last part of the travel. The ’37’ part of the name comes from the change of stanchion diameter, which is now 37mm instead of 36mm. This change along with a new arch design brings added stiffness, and a bit more tyre clearance too. One of the things that we love so much about the Idylle Air is its amazing sensitivity, it even puts coil forks to shame, but somehow BOS reckon they’ve managed to make this one even more sensitive.
Hopefully we will have one of these forks to try out very soon, and to say we can’t wait is a massive understatement. If we’re honest we’ve been so impressed with the Idylle Air that we couldn’t really see how it could be improved, but the past has proven that BOS don’t release something new unless they really feel like they’ve made a step forward. If that is once again the case with these new forks then we should be in for something truly special indeed.
Stay tuned for more news on this fork…
